A new requirement of most MCSE certifications (Including MCSE: Communication) is either the prerequisite MCSA: Windows Server 2012 or MCSA Office 365 certification. Attendee Requirement & Prerequisites:

The MCSA Office 365 exams are designed for IT professionals who take part in evaluating, planning, deploying, and operating the Office 365 services, including its dependencies, requirements, and supporting technologies. They should have experience with the Office 365 Admin Center and an understanding of Exchange Online, Lync Online, SharePoint Online, Office 365 ProPlus, and Windows Azure Active Directory. This includes experience with service descriptions, configuration options, and integrating services with existing identity management and on-premises infrastructure to support the business requirements of an organization.

The MCSE Communication candidates are IT consultants and telecommunications consulting professionals who design, plan, deploy, and maintain solutions for unified communications (UC). Candidates should be able to translate business requirements into technical architecture and design for a UC solution. They should have a minimum of two years of experience with Microsoft Lync technologies and be familiar with supported migration scenarios. Candidates should be proficient in deploying Lync Server solutions for end users, endpoint devices, telephony, audio/video and web conferences, security, and high availability. Candidates should also know how tomonitor and troubleshoot Lync Server using Microsoft tools. In addition, candidates should be proficient with Active Directory Domain Services, data networks, and telecommunications standards and components that support the configuration of Lync Server. Candidates should be familiar with the requirements for integrating Lync Server with Microsoft Exchange Server and Office 365.

The minimally qualified candidate typically should have experience making decisions concerning the design, implementation, and maintenance of the following:
